Actuate’s SOA-Ready Platform is Honoured for Demonstrable Business Value, Open Standards, Scalability and High Performance

Actuate Corporation (NASDAQ: ACTU), a leading provider of Business Intelligence, Performance Management and Reporting Applications, and an IBM Business Premier Partner, today announced that it was named a finalist for the 2007 IBM (NASDAQ: IBM) Impact SOA Innovation Award. The award recognises IBM Premier Business Partners who are leading the charge in exploiting IBM SOA and WebSphere software capabilities in innovative and visionary ways.

“IBM’s Impact Innovation Awards go to solutions that solve traditional problems in non-traditional ways and that will be drivers in tomorrow's new markets,” said Sandy Carter, VP of SOA Strategy at IBM. “When choosing the winners and the finalists for the 2007 Innovation Awards, we looked at the each organisation’s solution and the value they deliver to customers. We are honoured to recognise Actuate as a finalist in this year’s program and were impressed with the quantifiable benefits they were able to articulate, particularly in the areas of financial management and customer self-service.”

Actuate has worked closely with IBM over several years to achieve a high level of business and technical alignment and as a result, became the first partner to achieve all levels of IBM’s SOA Specialty certification - Connect, Extend, and Exploit. (See press release titled ‘Actuate Accepted into IBM SOA Specialty Program’ issued on October 11, 2006.)

Actuate’s Enterprise Reporting and Performance Management applications built on an SOA foundation offer benefits for IT groups as well as business users. For IT, deployment times and development costs can be reduced. For departmental business functions, such as financial management, an Actuate SOA infrastructure can facilitate better corporate accountability. Financial management applications built using Actuate and IBM WebSphere integrate data from multiple financial systems in real time to deliver accurate financial data in a variety of formats such as interactive web-based reports, fully-functional spreadsheets and executive dashboards. This improved financial visibility helps companies to control costs, optimide resources and speed period-close cycles.
Actuate on an SOA infrastructure enables streamlined customer self-service by enabling companies to create more comprehensive and flexible outside the firewall applications than ever before.

The Actuate platform is a fully SOA-enabled suite of easy-to-use business intelligence capabilities designed to meet the reporting and analysis needs of employees, partners and customers. Powered by the Actuate iServer, the platform enables users to access integrated data from multiple systems, build and deploy interactive, customisable reports, and perform ad hoc queries and analysis in a flexible, scalable and secure way. Because Actuate reporting capabilities are services that integrate seamlessly with the IBM WebSphere suite of products, Actuate reporting functionality can be automatically leveraged through all stages of WebSphere application development and deployment.

“We’re honoured that IBM has recognised Actuate as an innovative, visionary business partner. It is a testament to the commitment we have to continuous innovation in response to customer needs,” said Pete Cittadini, CEO and president of Actuate. “IBM is leading the global shift to SOA and Actuate is proud to team with them to help our customers deliver business intelligence solutions that reflect mission-critical needs, and this latest award affirms we are achieving this goal.”

IBM IMPACT 2007 in Orlando, Florida provides business partners and customers with the opportunity to understand they can embrace the WebSphere Platform for SOA to establish a flexible IT foundation that can respond quickly to today's changing business climate and achieve innovation.
