Actuate Accepted into IBM SOA Specialty Program

Service Oriented Architecture Approach to Reporting and Analysis Drives Business Agility and Flexibility

Actuate Corporation (NASDAQ: ACTU), the world leader in Enterprise Reporting and Performance Management Applications that empower 100% of users to achieve breakthrough corporate performance, and an IBM Premier Partner, today announced its acceptance to the IBM (NASDAQ: IBM) SOA Specialty after successfully completing IBM’s rigorous SOA technical and business requirements. With this achievement, the Actuate platform integrates with the IBM SOA Foundation, a single, integrated platform that combines the industry’s top application server and integration capabilities. Customers of IBM and Actuate can now take advantage of a common approach to Service-Oriented Architecture to rapidly integrate business intelligence and performance management capabilities into applications to support the complete spectrum of business processes.

Acceptance into the IBM SOA Specialty is for Business Partners that have demonstrated compatibility with IBM SOA Foundation products, endorse the IBM SOA strategy, and whose go-to-market activities IBM determines to be in agreement with its own. Actuate has been working closely with IBM to achieve a high level of business and technical alignment and as a result, has become the first partner to achieve all levels of SOA Specialty certification - Connect, Extend, and Exploit. This means that Actuate is certified by IBM to be able to connect, extend, and exploit the IBM SOA Foundation products including the WebSphere Business Modeler, WebSphere Integration Developer, and WebSphere Process Server. Specifically, Actuate exploits the SOA Foundation by building reusable components within the WebSphere Integration Developer, deployed on the WebSphere Process Server to communicate with applications using the WebSphere Enterprise Service Bus.

The IBM SOA Specialty in the PartnerWorld for Industry Networks provides technical enablement and skills-building roadmap for partners who want to access the growing SOA market opportunity. The Specialty will also provide SOA-specific marketing and sales benefits for those who achieve key milestones such as SOA Connection Events to meet directly with IBM SOA Sales specialists and discounted print advertising and telemarketing. IBM Sales Connections, a consultative service in the PartnerWorld Industry Networks, helps business partners close SOA deals quickly by connecting them with the relevant IBM SOA and local field sales team.

“SOA is an increasingly important architectural requirement in the market because of the business flexibility it enables, and Actuate is an important partner in the SOA ecosystem” said Sandy Carter, vice president, SOA and WebSphere, IBM Software Group. “Actuate’s acceptance into the SOA Specialty at the “Exploit” level is a reflection of their long term, extensive business partnership with IBM.”
The Actuate platform is a fully SOA-enabled suite of easy-to-use Business Intelligence and Performance Management capabilities designed to meet the reporting and analysis needs of employees, partners and customers. Powered by the Actuate iServer, the platform enables users to access integrated data from multiple systems, build and deploy interactive, customisable reports, and perform ad-hoc queries and analysis in a flexible, scalable and secure way.

“Actuate and IBM share a common vision regarding how organisations can maximise the value of Business Intelligence and our SOA certification further validates our business and technical alliance with IBM,” said Pete Cittadini, president and CEO of Actuate. “When organisations move beyond viewing Business Intelligence as a separate, stand-alone exercise for a limited number of individuals, and move towards integrating reporting and analytics with all the business processes that touch every user, they can achieve breakthrough corporate performance.”
