Bank strengthens competitive advantage through System Access’ Card Management System

Singapore & Manila, 19 May 2006 – SESDAQ-listed System Access Limited ("System Access”), one of the top providers of universal banking software solutions for financial services institutions worldwide, is pleased to announce that its customer, UnionBank of the Philippines has successfully gone live with CardPro, its card management solution. UnionBank of the Philippines (UnionBank), which has also been awarded “Most Outstanding Credit Card Company” in the 2005 Consumers Choice Annual Awards conferred by the Consumers League of the Philippines Foundation (ConPhil), aims to be one of the industry’s Top 3 players by 2010. In 2004, UnionBank won the Excellence in Credit Card Management Award from The Asian Banker Excellence in Retail Finance Services Awards.

System Access’ CardPro, with over 150 installations in over 30 countries, is a leading card management system that replaced UnionBank’s mainframe-based legacy system. With CardPro, UnionBank further leverages on advanced information technology to pursue its key market differentiation strategy that is based on continuous innovation and unparalleled customer service.

UnionBank is moving from a product-centric to a customer-centric institution. In order to achieve this, UnionBank’s Credit Card Business Manager Manuel G. Santiago Jr. believes it is necessary to understand what the bank’s customers’ want and to deliver these to them.

CardPro is a secure, tested, and complete card and payment processing solution. It is server-based and runs on a UNIX platform, thus providing a scalable architecture. Designed around the customer, it is flexible enough to design a wide variety of card products with varying price, reward, and rebate structures catering to the needs of different segments of the market. Furthermore, built-in card payment operations workflows resolve key operations issues resulting in improved customer service.

CardPro is also fully compliant with all major payment associations that include American Express, Diners Club, JCB International, MasterCard and VISA. The system also supports a full range of consumer card offerings from credit cards and debit cards to loyalty cards and prepaid cards.

The rollout for CardPro was successfully implemented at Unionbank through the combined efforts of System Access and Total Information Management (TIM).
