--Leading Global Bank Expands Partnership with DataSynapse to Create Utility Infrastructure for Virtual Process--
NEW YORK and LONDON - 15 May 2006 - DataSynapse, Inc., a global provider of virtual application infrastructure software, today announced that Wachovia, one of the largest financial services companies in the world, is using DataSynapse FabricServer(tm) to bring the benefits of virtualisation to its most critical transactional applications. Implemented within Wachovia's Corporate and Investment Bank, the FabricServer deployment is part of a multi-phase, multi-year initiative for continuous process improvement.
A critical element of the bank's plan to develop a global, virtual processing infrastructure to support a managed utility environment, FabricServer maximises the performance of Wachovia's application server-based business transactions. Wachovia is currently processing front-office trading and middle-office order management applications over FabricServer. The solution has enabled the bank to achieve operational cost savings while improving growth efficiency.
With unprecedented service level management control available at runtime, Wachovia has seen a five-fold improvement in application responsiveness and a 50 percent increase in throughput since implementing DataSynapse FabricServer.
"DataSynapse software provides a critical platform that enables us to manage application processing in a managed utility environment with total command and control," said Tony Bishop, senior vice president and director of product management of Wachovia.
An industry first, FabricServer enables policy-based automation and runtime provisioning of Wachovia's transactional applications across three different types of server environments, BEA WebLogic, JBoss and Spring.
"By moving critical applications to a virtual infrastructure, DataSynapse helps companies like Wachovia create a more agile operating environment for their business-critical applications," said Jamie Bernardin, chief technology officer of DataSynapse. "We're excited to be such an integral part of Wachovia's service-oriented computing strategy and we look forward to helping them realise the benefits of a shared utility."
Wachovia will feature the results it has achieved to date with DataSynapse in a keynote presentation at the upcoming InfoWorld SOA Executive Forum, 16-17 May in New York City.
