Upgrades designed to meet document composition industry needs and continue to lower the total cost of document production

MILWAUKEE, Dec. 12, 2005 - Metavante Corporation, the financial technology subsidiary of Marshall & Ilsley Corporation (NYSE:MI), today announced 19 new clients for CSF(R) Designer and detailed numerous enhancements to its document composition application.

Among the 19 new clients are Detroit Edison and Statement Solutions, LLC. Detroit Edison is an electric utility serving 2.1 million customers in southeastern Michigan and a subsidiary of DTE Energy, a Detroit-based diversified energy company involved in the development and management of energy-related businesses and services nationwide. Statement Solutions, LLC is a provider of comprehensive document design, implementation and print/digital production services to the financial services industry. The new CSF Designer has been selected by Statement Solutions as its primary tool for document design, development and production services for the companies.

"This new version of CSF Designer greatly enhances the potential for our clients' financial statements and other documents to double as strategic messaging vehicles," said Cameron Youngman, Statement Solutions president. "With the transition underway from paper to electronic documents, CSF Designer allows us to drive consistency between formats and fine-tune documents with relative ease. The result -- documents that speak with a single voice to our clients' customers."

"Listening to the feedback from the customer communications marketplace, we found a common set of concerns: overall high cost of document testing and maintenance, inability to save and restore design versions, and difficulty delivering integrated workflow notifications to non-information technology personnel in the design and approval process," said Holly Huggins, vice president, general manager Metavante CSF and Biller Service Provider. "With added functionality, the new version of CSF Designer addresses all of these challenges and further drives down the total cost of document production for our clients."

The key benefits built into the latest version of CSF Designer are:
- Structure View and Show Formatting View: new tools to reveal a document template's underlying structure (conditions, message placement, etc.) and formatting rules (fonts, spacing, position, etc.).
- Version Control: create "read-only" document versions with components to preserve working-draft incarnations. This allows previous version resources or components to be easily regenerated while staging applications from development all the way through to production.
- Enterprise Notification: email integrated object approval process to reduce the time to market for new documents or components. Clients can define the proper, automated workflow and participants of the workflow process can manage their responsibilities through CSF Designer rich client or through an Internet browser session.
- Integration with Metavante Electronic Bill Publishing: integrating CSF Designer with Metavante electronic presentment and payment facilitates document content control with a single tool to drive electronic billing efficiencies. Clients can see changes in both paper and electronic presentations.
- Spot Color and Highlight Color Support: low cost, highlight color alternatives added to complement current color support offerings: RGB (red, green, blue) and CMYK (Cyan/Magenta/Yellow/Black).
- Printer Command Language (PCL) Output: create another output type to produce PCL version 5.

"The improvements to CSF Designer deliver powerful document composition performance and can be tailored to each client's specifications," said Huggins. "The new version drives the individual look, feel and messages our clients leverage to create relationship-building opportunities with their customers."

Zürcher Kantonalbank (ZKB), Switzerland's third largest bank and a veteran CSF Designer client, has expanded its use of the Metavante solution. ZKB recently took its use of CSF Designer from statement and notice production to enterprise-wide applications and commented on the product enhancements. "CSF Designer already had the kind of features you'd expect from Metavante – features that increase productivity and help lower the total cost of document production," said René Grenacher, manager, system engineering, Output and Archiving Systems, Zürcher Kantonalbank. "The upgrades prove that Metavante made the architecture advancements necessary to meet the changing needs of its clients." ZKB has total assets of CHF 80.3 billion.
