Custom solution powers ATMs from multiple vendors, provides advanced functionalities
(LONDON) - One of Italy’s largest banks has deployed a custom application created by Diebold’s Agilis Power software toolkit as the standard for more than 1,300 of its multi-vendor automated teller machines (ATMs).
One of the world’s 100 largest banks, Banca Nazionale del Lavoro (BNL) chose Diebold’s solution to power its ATM network. The project covers the bank’s entire network and is currently being rolled out. More than 500 of the bank’s ATMs are already operating with Diebold’s Agilis Power.
Diebold redesigned the Bank’s self-service distribution architecture with the help of its cross-vendor software platform. The platform enables the ATMs, which are supplied by three different vendors, to provide Web-based advanced functionalities in an integrated multichannel environment. The solution provides maximum flexibility, enabling BNL to develop and implement new services across its branches, allow for banking at home and call-centre channels, with enhanced efficiency and savings on operational costs.
The bank demonstrated the advantages of Agilis Power during Diebold’s 2005 Customer Convention, "Enhanced Self Service for Multichannel Integration," held in Milan last April.
Diebold’s Agilis Power is part of its Agilis family of ATM software. An open, cross-vendor software platform, Agilis allows multiple vendors’ terminals and their respective technologies to co-exist. Software engineers can use the Agilis Power toolkit to develop custom applications. The flexibility of the toolkit enables Diebold to meet the specific and individual needs of each financial institution. And it also enables financial institutions to realise economies of scale, as they need only implement Diebold’s single solution to power their entire ATM fleets.
Danilo Rivalta, managing director for Diebold Italy, said Agilis Power enables Diebold to meet the diverse needs of today’s financial institutions.
"This implementation demonstrates Diebold’s ability to meet the needs of the most demanding ATM network architecture by providing a software solution that can power terminals from multiple vendors," Rivalta said. "Agilis Power also meets the needs of our customers in a multichannel integrated environment, while supporting today’s Web-based applications and integrating a variety of network management systems. We are particularly proud of how this project illustrates the versatility of Agilis, which enables our customers to do more at the ATM channel while renewing their retail banking services."
Diebold’s Agilis Power already enables more than 1,000 multi-vendor ATMs across Italy to deliver advanced functionalities to consumers. Among these are Diebold’s Opteva ATMs, which were recently recognied in the UK by the ATM Industry Association (ATMIA) with its ATM Security Best Technology Award.
