Syntel Announces SynTest (TM), a New Software Testing Solution Rapid, Cost-Effective Third-Party Testing Solution with the Power of Global Delivery
Troy, MI - January 19, 2005 - Syntel, Inc. (NASDAQ: SYNT), a global software solutions firm, today announced the launch of SynTest (TM) to help corporate clients cost-effectively test new software applications prior to release within their companies.
Syntel's SynTest solution uses a combination of skilled software engineering teams, proven testing tools and unique methodologies to rapidly test software for a variety of situations, including possible defects, performance and load testing, regression, security and compatibility, among others.
The market for software testing services is critical and set to grow rapidly. According to the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), U.S. corporations spend $60 billion to repair software defects, primarily after release of an application when it is more costly to do so. Proper software testing in a dedicated environment with strong processes could have reduced this amount by $20 billion, the Institute data claims.
According to Forrester Research, companies should look to outsource testing as a quality gain, not just a cost savings. Higher application quality, greater flexibility in staffing, and, reduced staffing and tool carry costs are the primary benefits provided by testing outsourcing, Forrester added.
"Over our 25-year history, we've developed, maintained and tested thousands of complex software applications for our Fortune 500 clients," said Jonathan James, Syntel's Vice President of Marketing. "Syntel's SynTest solution is an outgrowth of our direct experience in delivering error-free, high performing software applications that help our clients run their businesses more efficiently. Our assessment as a SEI-CMM Level 5, ISO 9001 and BS 7799 certified operation ensures clients that our processes and approach are world class."

"We tackle a client's testing requirement using a proven methodology and phased approach, which starts with the testing strategy, test design & planning and test execution," said Srinath Mallya, Syntel Project Director for SynTest. "For long-term engagements, we leverage knowledge management and gather key metrics to facilitate continual improvement. Another key component of our approach is the delivery flexibility of a testing solution using SynTest. We can test on-site at the client's location, offsite from one of our U.S. centers, or offshore from our Global Development Centers in India, where we run our Center of Testing Excellence in Chennai, India.
