Back to all Refinitiv announcements

LONDON, 16 June, 2004 -- Thomson Financial, an operating unit of The Thomson Corporation (TSX: TOC, NYSE: TOC) and leading provider of information and technology solutions to the worldwide financial community, today announced an agreement with Britannic Asset Management to provide FIX connectivity via the new global Thomson AutEx network between Britannic's Longview Order Management System (OMS) and executing traders. Using a single connection and the FIX protocol, the AutEx network integrates indications of interest (IOI), advertised trades (AT), order routing and allocation messaging. Britannic Asset Management, a Glasgow-based investment company with more than £14bn under management, is one of the first Scottish asset management firms to commence electronic trading from the dealing desk.

"We chose the best components from Thomson to implement a full straight through process solution that fully satisfies our requirements," said Betsy Anderson, Head of Dealing at Britannic. "AutEx was already integrated with our Longview OMS and our broker execution systems. We were impressed with the ‘hub and spoke’ network - it was easy to implement and Thomson provides us with a high level of support. We were up and running immediately and able to manage a large proportion of our business electronically very quickly," said Anderson.

"We are pleased that Britannic chose our solution," said Tony Booth, Director of Connectivity, Thomson Financial. "Our third generation AutEx platform is proving very successful in fulfilling the market need for a fully FIX compliant hub that links to any compliant OMS. The buy-side is able to choose the most appropriate OMS for its needs, helping to maximize investment and linking global brokers via a single efficient connection that supports all FIX messaging including IOIs, trading, execution and allocation," said Booth.

The Thomson AutEx service handles nearly one million indications daily, enabling more than 300 global brokers to advertise inventory to more than 500 institutions. With a single click, the buy or sell-side traders can quickly recap and review a stock's latest indications including supers, trades, bid and ask prices, and other details.

New Thomson AutEx tools enable faster trade analysis and negotiations, and improve the flexibility in which messages are broadcast and received by the AutEx community. Greater selective targeting of messages and blocking capabilities ensure intelligent message validation. Several recaps for retrieving message data on specific securities are now available, with brokers viewing their own IOI messages and institutions viewing all messages. There are specific recaps for trade advertisements, detailed IOIs, general IOIs and real-time intra-day ranking of broker trading volume, with contact information for the broker who sends an IOI or trade advertisement message.
