Walerius joined Dow Jones Newswires in 1997 as commodities editor and became senior editor – EMEA news in 1999. Walerius reports to Gabriella Stern, senior editor, EMEA.
Jason Rogers will oversee the day’s news coverage (spot news) for all asset classes. Editors from the equities, money, energy, markets and global news desks will report to Rogers, as well as the editors in charge of the services desk and Dow Jones NewsPlus, the companion Web site to the Dow Jones Financial Wire. Assistant news editor in charge of Technology, Media and Telecom coverage, Gren Manuel, has been named news editor – EMEA equities, reporting to his predecessor, Jason Rogers. Manuel joined Dow Jones four years ago as a reporter for The Asian Wall Street Journal in Hong Kong and then a Dow Jones Newswires reporter covering TMT in London.
Energy Desk appointments (London)
Norvil Scott has joined Dow Jones Newswires as physical crude oil reporter from the London-based World Markets Research Centre, where he was an energy analyst focusing on the African and North American energy sectors. He replaces Sam Cage who has joined the Associated Press’ Geneva bureau.
Claire Grierson has joined Dow Jones Newswires as a reporter covering petroleum products in the EMEA region, plus selected shipping news. She previously worked as a products reporter at the Petroleum Argus group.
Nina Sovich has taken the role of reporter covering the region’s gas and power markets as well as emissions trading. Sovich joined Dow Jones Newswires from New York where she was a reporter for Institutional Investor’s Power Finance & Risk newsletter. She replaces Ian Talley who is moving to Dow Jones Newswires’ Oslo bureau in the summer.

Ian Edmondson as senior copy editor and liaison between Dow Jones Newswires and The Wall Street Journal Europe, London. Edmondson joined Dow Jones in 2002 and most recently worked as a reporter on the global desk in London. He now reports to Randy Walerius.
Lucy Benson as deputy news editor, global desk, London. Benson was previously assistant news editor on the global desk and now oversees the 25-strong global desk team which covers money, equities and general enterprise.
Valerie Venck as news editor of DJ Bourse, Dow Jones Newswires’ French-language news service. Venck became spot news editor in the Dow Jones Newswires Paris bureau in 2002, having been a reporter covering the telecommunications and leisure industries in London since 1999. She is tasked with further expanding the DJ Bourse service, which was launched in 2000 as a French-language version of Dow Jones Newswires’ Market Talk Europe service, offering real-time commentary on breaking financial news and market movements. In 2002, it was expanded to include coverage of the equities, bonds and foreign exchange markets in France and around the world and will be further expanded this year.
Christina Anderson has joined Dow Jones Newswires’ Stockholm bureau as a reporter on the newly formed Nordic spot news desk, covering Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Norway. Anderson previously worked as a writer for the International Rescue Committee and Lawyers Committee for Human Rights in New York.
Nick Carey and Leos Rousek as reporters in Dow Jones Newswires’ Prague bureau, both covering key financial and business news including enterprise, telecoms/mobile telecoms, petrochemicals and privatisation. Carey previously worked for the Prague Business Journal, focusing on banking and insurance, pension reform, politics/fiscal policy and foreign direct investment, and for Radio Prague. Rousek joined Dow Jones Newswires in 1995 and returns to the Prague bureau following a position in its Moscow bureau.
