EXANE Selects Financial Fusion for Basis of FIX Order Routing System

Leading European independent broker chooses Financial Fusion Server for B2B data exchange processes with its institutional customers.

Paris, 2 April 2002 - Financial Fusion Inc., a Sybase company, today announced that Exane has implemented Financial Fusion Server to support the routing of electronic financial orders in the FIX protocol.

Exane chose Financial Fusion Server to fulfil its straight through processing (STP) initiative to automate the processing of financial orders with its customers, and guarantee enhanced service quality while handling bigger transaction volumes.

It took Exane less than two months to develop a working prototype with the support of Sybase's consulting department. The strengths of Financial Fusion Server fully emerged during this development phase: openness, scalability, easy assimilation and administration, and full support for the FIX protocol.

"Because we knew that the project would dictate the structure of our information systems, the solution we were looking for had to be highly reliable and durable," explained Jean Arzano, Exane CIO. "The wealth of functionality delivered by Financial Fusion Server, allied with Sybase's long track record were crucial criteria. Sybase has been constantly committed to FIX, keeping pace with the changes to that protocol and building them into Financial Fusion Server.

"With Financial Fusion Server we can standardise our B2B transactions via FIX, a protocol that is very popular among our customers. The result is that we can now deliver top quality service and underscore Exane's strong commitment to its customers," concluded Arzano.

Denis Soupault, sales manager for the banking segment at Sybase said:
"Financial Fusion Server is a key tool in any financial institution's STP policy. Based on an open, 100% Java-EJB architecture, Financial Fusion Server has been implemented by Exane on redundant SUN E420 platforms, to guarantee the ability to handle increased workloads and satisfy Exane's demand for high uptime".

Financial Fusion Server is a platform for the management and routing of financial messages. It provides financial institutions with an automated Straight Through Processing (STP) capability from buy-side to sell-side, that cuts out all manual operations. With its XML-based message broker component, Financial Fusion Server manages the distribution of financial messages and supports a broader range of protocols: FIX , SWIFT, FpML,GSTPA, Omgeo, EMX, RITD

Financial Fusion Server has been in production at Exane since the start of
2002 and is consequently a fully integrated part of Exane's STP implementation.
