SRC announces telephone speech recognition solutions alliance-Collaborative alliance extends potential of new technologies

London, England – 22 October 2001 - Cap Gemini Ernst & Young, one of the
global leaders in management consulting and IT services and the second
largest systems integrator in the telecommunications world, and SRC (The
Speech Recognition Company), announce their alliance to provide
telephony-based speech recognition solutions to customers in the UK.

This alliance brings together two pioneering companies in the field of
telephony-based speech recognition. SRC will combine its world-leading
speech application solutions and development capabilities, including
VoiceXML, with Cap Gemini Ernst & Young’s wide-ranging CRM (Customer
Relationship Management) business and technical services to offer
telephony-based speech recognition applications that can provide new revenue
opportunities, deliver significant cost reduction, aid improvement in
customer service, and solve specific business problems or constraints in
customer relationship management.

This announcement comes shortly after SRC announced the first European
deployment of a carrier-grade, production-hosting platform for telephony
speech recognition applications. SRC’s new platform will be operational
later this month and offers capacity to handle more than 5 million calls a
month. The deployment of the platform further secures SRC's position as a
pioneer in enabling companies to benefit from the many cost-savings and
customer service improvements that speech recognition applications can
deliver, without requiring them to invest in costly specialist hardware and
software.

SRC's platform allows applications to be developed and hosted in a number of
programming languages, including VoiceXML, which is emerging as the standard
for the implementation of telephony-based speech recognition and voice
browser applications. The SRC platform will integrate the Nortel MPS
platform with best-of-breed speech technologies, including engines from
SpeechWorks and Nuance to support speech recognition and text-to-speech.
