Straight Through Processing Benefits realised immediately
Singapore and London, 19 October 2001 - HelioGraph, specialists in the financial messaging technology sector, announced today at its Singaporean-themed party in the City of London (organised following the cancellation of Sibos 2001, the S.W.I.F.T. user conference), that PT Bank Sanwa Indonesia (Sanwa) has gone live with their STP (Straight Through Processing) technology platform, to process customer payments direct to the Indonesian Central Bank RTGS (Real Time Gross Settlement) system.
This successful project was managed and implemented by Decillion Pte Ltd. (Decillion), HelioGraph’s Asia Pac partner, based in Singapore. Sanwa was established in 1989 as a joint venture between Sanwa Bank Limited and PT. Bank Bali, and merged with PT. Tokai Lippo Bank to form PT Bank UFJ Indonesia on October 1, 2001.
Sanwa’s STP requirements were to create a fully automated process that would integrate transactions originating from multiple systems, ranging from an AS/400 back office system, IBM mainframe running CMS and multiple points where manual counter payments were processed. These transactions had to be alidated, exceptions raised and processed, errors remedied and the authorised data
formatted to meet the RTGS fixed data format requirements. One key goal was to enable transactions of more than 1 billion rupiah to automatically flow through
the RTGS live network and for lesser amounts to the SKEJ network. The team in Jakarta were able to achieve this within a very short timeframe without disruption to day-to-day business.
HelioGraph, with their impressive list of successful client implementations, were able to convince Sanwa of the superiority of their data field dictionary
architecture, which is based on reliable and proven NT technology, incorporates the new ISO15022 SWIFT message standards, and is both robust and scaleable. Crucially for Sanwa, the core component product of the solution, Helio Message Broker®, is SWIFTReady Gold accredited. Users have also attested to the ease of use of the product and the skills transfer process is such that users become independent of the vendor after a short, intensive training program. The Decillion team was able to combine their depth of industry and business knowledge with the HelioGraph solution to ensure the needs of Sanwa were met and the newly trained users were equipped with comprehensive documentation.
"We recognised there was an urgent need to implement an STP solution for our RTGS system if we were going to be able to dramatically improve our efficiencies, reduce the risk inherent with manual processing and at the same time, increase the volume of transactions." Commented, Mr Takashi Iwai from PT Bank UFJ Indonesia. "We have been impressed with the ability of the Decillion team to understand our business and technology needs and implement the HelioGraph solution very quickly. We are in full production and very happy with the improvements in efficiencies."
