A typical topology distributes data in real-time from a SQL database, Reuters Triarch and a direct feed (e.g a Stock Exchange) to a local dealing network, local ‘off-floor’ positions (e.g back-office), a remote site and various Internet, Browser-based and dial-up users:

RTP is modular, with an extremely flexible, nodal and hierarchical architecture.

RTP server components are 'plug and play' compatible. They are separate processes and so can run on as many (or few) processors as required for performance optimisation, resilience, and scalability.

Data to any node is optimised and sent only once, regardless of how many users are on that node. Each node handles optimised re-distribution to local users, reducing the load on inter-node bandwidth.

Nodes can be located geographically and/or topologically as appropriate for high availability, network segmentation, fault tolerance and redundancy, bandwidth optimisation and efficient regional processing.
