Arcontech CityVision Real Time Publisher (RTP Middleware)

RTP Middleware is the 'glue' which connects data sources to their destinations in real-time.

It translates data between the formats and protocols understood by the connected systems or 'end points', even performing symbology mapping if required. RTP provides reliable data transmission and protocol conversion meaning that the connected systems need not be aware that RTP is present. Key features are:

Fast: RTP is event-driven. If data you’ve requested changes, you see it. No polling, no refresh, no missed opportunities.

Efficient: RTP optimises data to minimise bandwidth usage. You get just the required data, as fast as possible, without clogging your network.

Flexible: RTP can be configured to create just the infrastructure you need, and is highly scalable. It supports the entire ‘off-the shelf’ CityVision product suite for data contribution, conversion and display, including the fully featured real-time feed APIs for custom requirements and integration.

Scalable: RTP is highly scalable. Components can run on as many (or few) processors as required, located geographically or topologically for efficient regional processing

Secure: RTP extensions provide 192 bit user authentication, data encryption and configurable service access and denial.

Available: There are no single points of failure in a fully configured RTP network. Hot-standby components ensure that data is not lost. Automatic fail-over provides continuity of service. Alternative routing protects against network failure.

RTP has a client/server model:

Server Components collect and distribute data, performing specific functions such as feed handling or real-time page construction.

Clients components written using the CityVision APIs receive or submit data to the servers via CityVision Protocol (CVP) a reliable data transmission layer.

All RTP components are 'plug and play' compatible so you can create just the infrastructure you need - fast, accurate, reliable, robust, resilient, with no single point of failure.

Our APIs mean that 3rd party developers can access the comprehensive RTP facilities but don't need to understand details of the servers or the transport protocol. This facilitates true Rapid Applications Development (RAD).
