Client Relationships are Center Focus at First Rate’s 2012 Performance Conference

First Rate, a leading provider of performance measurement solutions, has successfully concluded its 2012 annual Performance Conference. The conference provided insights, inspiration and specific training to increase customer confidence and improve customer service in client communication for the financial services industry.

First Rate's Performance Conference marked the presence of more than 60 investment performance and management practitioners engaged extensively in informative and enlightening performance measurement sessions presented by leading industry experts. Spanning two days, the conference covered many engaging topics including a new and very hot presentation, “Revolutionizing the Manager Selection and Evaluation Process.”


The Performance Conference keynotes included noted industry professionals Stephen Campisi of Intuitive Performance Solutions and John D. Simpson of The Spaulding Group.

Modern Portfolio Theory Creating Winning Teams

Stephen Campisi addressed "Revolutionizing the Manager Selection and Evaluation Process," by showing how to apply modern portfolio theory to the manager selection process. By incorporating and revolutionizing the manager of managers' process, clients are able to move beyond the dark ages of "managers vs. benchmarks" and from "all-star teams” to “winning teams.”

Performance Measurement Trends

"Trends in Performance Measurement" was presented by John D. Simpson of The Spaulding Group. Simpson provided insights on the top trends in performance measurement that will affect vendors, performance teams and investment firms. The discussion covered all aspects of performance measurement, including return calculations, attribution analysis, risk measurement, and the GIPS Standards.

Building a First Rate Tool Box

First Rate’s Performance Conference provided wealth managers the opportunity to expand their investment performance toolbox with interactive workshops and hands-on training with First Rate professionals.

“Themed Reports - The New World of Client 'Designer' Performance Reports” demonstrated how our latest advanced performance reporting structure launches each client into a whole new world of flexibility allowing them to manage the style of their reporting without the expense of creating custom reports.

“Performance Measurement: Communicating your Value Through Performance Reporting” was conducted by Todd Brunskill, First Rate’s Director of Marketing. It outlined why clients hire and retain investment advisors providing an internal view of investment objects and what to consider in presenting performance and how to communicate your results.

“Bubbles, Manias and the Importance of Behavioral Finance,” with Christian Jaeger and Terry Gaines of First Rate, explored the signficance of major historic bubbles and how each has impacted, changed and developed behavioral finance.

"First Rate Advisor Express" explored the benefits and solutions provided by the stremlined extension of First Rate's investment performance reporting tool, Advisor. In addition, the session on First Rate's Automated Composite Engine (ACE) provided an indepth look on the improvements and advancements of the integrated composite management solution that allows users to automate monthly processes of creating and reviewing composites.


The annual performance measurement conference was approved for CFA continuing education (CE) credit.
