2 February 2010

The UK’s fastest growing payment service provider continues to see impressive growth figures

January 2010 has proven to be a record month for Realex Payments, with transaction values processed for our UK clients increasing by 112% to £300m, when compared to the previous January. When taking international business into account the overall transactions processed by the Company during the month of January were valued in excess of £700m.

January is traditionally a busy a month for Realex Payments, due to the traditional online airline, holiday and general sales, insurance renewals and college fees, all of which peak at this time of year. Online charity donations were also much higher in January as a direct result of the earthquake in Haiti. In the weeks after the tragedy, Realex Payments witnessed an 1100% increase in volumes processed by the 125 charities it supports.

Commenting on the figures, Realex Payments CEO and founder Colm Lyon said: “Selling online is a very cost effective channel and it is crucial for both new and existing businesses. While we work with large corporate clients such as Virgin Atlantic, we also support thousands of small businesses – many of whom are selling online for the first time. We have a specific package to enable start up companies to seize the online opportunity, which costs just £19 per month”.
