It will be alleged in the lawsuit that the bank violated federal law by subjecting female employees to wage discrimination and a sexually hostile environment.
The action has been taken on the basis of allegations from former employee Aimee Doneyhue, who says that practices were in place at the bank making it difficult for women to earn commissions and bonuses.
She also alleges that women working there were subject to verbal sexual harassment and that she was fired from the bank in Polaris Park after she complained about what was happening.
Debra Lawrence, acting regional attorney for EEOC's Philadelphia district said: "JP Morgan Chase Bank is a leader in its industry; it's too bad it's not a leader in best business practices for equal employment opportunity."
The EEOC has a history of taking on lawsuits against big companies and has just settled a disability bias lawsuit with Sears, Roebuck and Co for $6.2 million.
JPMorgan has declined to comment on the matter.
