Aternity IT Survey Ranks End User Experience Management As Top Priority for 2008

Aternity Inc., the industry’s technology leader in end user experience management solutions for Global 1000 enterprises, today announced the results of its survey, “IT Management: Key Drivers and Challenges in 2008.” More than 70 senior IT and Line-of-Business (LOB) professionals participated in the survey, ranking their key IT priorities for 2008 and sharing their perspective on end user experience management strategies and best practices.

Preemptive Problem Detection Cited #1 Priority by Survey Respondents

• More than 35 percent surveyed indicated that “gaining a more proactive handle on IT problems before the impact is felt by end users or upon business productivity and performance,” as their top priority for 2008

• The top five priorities and key IT challenges for 2008 as ranked by survey respondents (in order of importance):
1. Gaining a more proactive handle on IT problems before the impact is felt by end users or upon business productivity and performance (35.6 percent)
2. Server virtualization (21.9 percent)
3. Security (21.9 percent)
4. Implementing green technologies and evaluating energy efficient enterprise performance (19.2 percent)
5. Maximizing existing SOA strategies for optimal reuse (23.3 percent)

• 50 percent of the survey respondents reported that the combination of the three Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) – desktop performance, application performance, and user productivity – were all equally important in order to optimally determine real end user experience

• More than 70 percent of survey respondents indicated that anywhere between 10 and 75 percent of all IT problems in their organization are not detected by IT, but rather unveiled by users after their productivity has been impacted


Analyst Research Reinforces Increased Adoption of End User Experience Management Software and Services

Gartner Dataquest predicts that between 2005 and 2011 IT spending on availability and performance tools, including those for end user experience monitoring and management, will rise by more than 45 percent, ultimately sizing the total market opportunity at more than $3.5 Billion USD. And, according to Jean-Pierre Garbani of Forrester Research, there are more than 30,000 enterprises that have over 100 servers today - and 40 percent of these enterprises are potential targets for deploying end user experience monitoring solutions*
