Wombat Financial Software Inc., the low-latency market data systems experts, today announced that Jim Potter has accepted the role of Director of US Client Services.
Potter brings 20 years of technical and managerial experience in the market data software industry to Wombat, initially gained at Rich Inc. and subsequently at Reuters. Beginning as a systems engineer, Potter rose through a spectrum of roles encompassing product delivery, project management, desktop design and launch management.
Throughout his career implementing market data trading systems Jim helped pioneer the adoption of video switches and as the technology evolved, the first digital market data systems on Wall Street. He was also key to introducing each new generation of Reuters datafeeds and desktops. As Reuters acquired other market data system technologies, he was also instrumental in the integration of not only the technology and client bases, but attracted top talent for their technical staff as well.
Potter’s addition supports Wombat’s continuing assembly of the finest team of market data engineers in the industry. Given the critical role Wombat’s technology now plays in global capital markets, relied upon by the world’s leading capital markets institutions, the synergy of seasoned experience in technology innovation and evolution coupled with an eye to the future needs of the marketplace ensures Wombat’s position as a ground breaking leader.
“We are delighted to have Jim join our management team”, commented Danny Moore, Wombat’s COO. “With such a pioneering background in the industry and a reputation for excellence on the street, Jim will make sure clients can look forward to receiving next-generation market data products with the level of support they deserve.”
“Wombat’s vision for the future should make the next twenty years as exciting a ride as the last twenty,” said Potter. “There’s no place I’d rather be than on the leading edge of capital markets technology – and that’s right where Wombat is positioned.”
