CheckFree Publishes Series of Papers on Best Practices for Unified Managed Account Programs

Atlanta and Jersey City, NJ - 18 October 2007

CheckFree Corporation (Nasdaq: CKFR), the leading platform provider for Separately Managed Accounts (SMAs) and Unified Managed Accounts (UMAs), today announced publication of a series of educational papers focused on its view of UMA best practices as observed through its work with leading firms in the investment management industry. The first paper in the series, entitled “Get with the Program: Designing a Successful UMA Program,” is available today.

This new thought leadership series, which will be made available to industry participants for free, describes the most important stages in setting up and managing a UMA program. Additional papers will be released during the next several months, including:

• “To Outsource or In-source: Selecting an Overlay Management Option”
• “Go With The Flow: Managing Cash in the UMA World”
• “Buy Low, Sell High: Managing Performance in the UMA World”
• “Full Disclosure: Maintaining a Compliant UMA Program”

“The topics discussed in the papers reflect specific areas that industry participants who have launched, or are thinking of launching a UMA, have told us they would like to know more about,” said Cheryl Nash, senior vice president, strategic marketing and business development, CheckFree Investment Services. “We’ve targeted these papers for new participants to the UMA, or industry participants who may be considering changes to an existing UMA program.”

The papers are designed for CheckFree Investment Services clients, as well as other UMA industry participants. As part of its services offering, CheckFree also provides direct consultation with its UMA product team, user training, and user guides, to help CheckFree clients ensure that the UMA configuration and workflow they have set up are optimal for their organizations.

Clients on the CheckFree UMA platform manage more accounts and more assets than any other platform. As of September 30, 2007, the CheckFree UMA platform had more than 160,000 accounts totaling more than $95 billion in assets under management.
