The budget planner, which was built using Adobe Flash and enables its users finances to be monitored month by month. Individuals do not need to be a customer of the Society or register with them to access the planner and when it is downloaded it sits on their desktop without any data being passed to the Yorkshire.
Each planner is personalised to the individual and can be used to monitor income and expenditure against pre-set budgets in clear, easy to read fields or graphics. Each user can select the date on which the month starts (e.g. to co-ordinate with their own payday) and they can choose whether to start each month with a zero balance or to carry over the figures from the previous month.
David Simpson, Head of Client Services at Lightstone, commented: “Our brief from Yorkshire Building Society was to develop an effective ongoing budgeting tool offering more sophisticated functionality than other free planners without being as difficult to use as many of the paid for systems available. In the current rising interest rate environment, it is even more important to budget carefully and the new online planner allows the Society to offer customers a useful tool to help them manage their finances without costing them anything.”
