DataMirror announces enhanced Oracle RAC support in latest versions of its powerful real-time data integration solutions

Log-based Change Data Capture realizes data changes as they occur in Oracle RAC environments without impacting system performance

DataMirror® (TSX: DMC), a leading provider of real-time data integration and data protection solutions, today announced that it has extended its unique log-based Change Data Capture (CDC) technology for Oracle RAC (Real Application Clusters) environments, enabling customers to make better operational and tactical business decisions by distributing up-to-the-minute information across the enterprise, while their Oracle-based applications run continuously at peak capacity throughout the day.

Rather than using triggers or performing queries against the database, Transformation Server 5.4 and iReflect 3.0 – the latest versions of DataMirror’s powerful real-time data integration solutions – incorporate best-of-breed log-based CDC to capture changes in a database by reading the redo logs of every node in a cluster and then distributing the changed data to other data stores or applications in the order the transactions occurred, thereby providing a single view of the organization with guaranteed data integrity. With CDC, data is processed throughout the day as changes occur, rather than during a nightly batch window, delivering the most current information and accurate business intelligence.

Organizations also eliminate redundant data transfer, free up their batch window for other tasks, and save network bandwidth.

“As more and more organizations maintain 24/7 operations, they need to ensure that their mission-critical business applications are highly accurate and always available regardless of what applications created the data, what environment it’s running in, or what database it’s stored in,” said Paul O’Hagan, Director of Product Management, DataMirror Corp. “The latest versions of Transformation Server and iReflect allow users to send data bi-directionally from one Oracle RAC environment to another RAC environment, to a data warehouse or even to multiple destinations, with changes reflected in the same order as they occurred.

Data is reliable and available across the enterprise 24/7, allowing organizations to make more informed business decisions and increase revenue opportunities.”

Oracle RAC is a cluster database with a shared cache architecture that overcomes the limitations of traditional shared-nothing and shared-disk approaches to provide highly scalable and available database solutions for business applications.

Transformation Server 5.4 streamlines business processes and applications within the enterprise by supporting cross-platform data integration.

DataMirror iReflect 3.0 distributes and consolidates data to and from different versions of Oracle databases over geographically dispersed systems, thereby improving centralized reporting and on-demand analytics.
