Nearly 600 people representing 13 countries converged upon Charles River Development’s (Charles River) 7th annual Client Conference in Boca Raton, Florida. The event provides the opportunity to connect with peers and partners, while learning about current and future releases of the multi award-winning Charles River Investment Management System (Charles River IMS) – a global, multi-asset class, real-time, front- and middle-office software suite.
For three days, over 75 client panels, roundtable discussions, workshops and presentations addressed industry trends and the issues facing asset managers, such as: increased trading volumes, market fragmentation, buy-side empowerment, growth in derivatives, increased regulation, globalization and data integration. Charles River experts explained how the company’s strategy and products address these issues through robust, multi-asset electronic connectivity, high scalability, EMS functionality, advanced derivatives capabilities, increased global compliance libraries, localization enhancements and real-time data, among other capabilities.
“Charles River and Newton have been working together for a long time, so I was pleased to take part in the equity trading panel discussion at this year’s event. The conference gave me a great opportunity to discuss and share the challenges facing equity traders today, alongside my peers,” commented Tony Russell, Head of UK Equity Trading, Newton Investment Managers, London. “Also, the networking opportunities are really useful and good fun. I hope to come back with my colleagues next year.”
At the event, Charles River launched version 8.1.4 of Charles River IMS which features enhanced performance and advanced analytics and derivatives capabilities. Charles River Anywhere, a new module which allows Charles River users to access selected functionalities of Charles River IMS via any web-enabled wired or wireless device, was launched. Previews of Charles River’s next-generation Version 9 architecture and functionality were also unveiled. Clients were able to see these, and other products, live in the Demo Center, and experience them first-hand in the Application Lab workshops. Over 30 Charles River partners participated in the Partner Pavilion, showcasing the best solutions the industry has to offer in a single setting.
“I have attended the Charles River conference three times now and have always found it to be an outstanding event,“ said Mark E. Coogan, Vice President Information Technology, ING Investment Management Americas. “A good balance between content – relevant to traders, portfolio managers, compliance officers and technologists – and the excellent networking opportunities in a wonderful setting made this a motivating and enjoyable experience.”
“We were delighted to see so many of our clients and the Conference’s continued growth shows their loyalty and interest. The Conference is a good environment for discussion, and client feedback continues to be the cornerstone of our development strategy, said Peter Lambertus, President, Charles River. “We are very excited about our ongoing strategic initiatives, and the feedback we received further validates that Charles River continues to remain at the technological forefront.”
