The results were announced at the Financial News Awards for IT Excellence - Europe 2005 ceremony in London last night.
A panel of independent judges, drawn from industry experts at market consultancies and research firms, voted overwhelmingly for Markit in the Derivatives Data category. Runners-up included Reuters, Thomson Financial and Bloomberg.
Lance Uggla, CEO of Markit said: "We are delighted to have won the Financial News best derivatives data provider award, which reinforces the company's position as the leading industry source for independently verified data for the OTC derivative markets. In light of the increasing focus of regulators and auditors on independent, high quality pricing, we will continue to help our clients establish best practice in product control and risk management."
