Anglogold Ashanti Chooses AXS-One Technology to Tackle Sarbanes-Oxley Compliance Issues
AXS-One Compliance Platform(TM) Delivers Integrated Platform to Manage Compliant Retention, Destruction and Authentication of Corporate Records Including E-Mail and SAP Data
RUTHERFORD, NJ--(MARKET WIRE)--May 10, 2005 -- AXS-One Inc. (AMEX:AXO - News), a leading provider of records compliance management software solutions, today announced that AngloGold Ashanti Australia Limited, selected the AXS-One Compliance Platform last quarter in order to comply with the records retention requirements of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act. A subsidiary company of publicly traded AngloGold Ashanti Ltd. (NYSE:AU - News), a leading global gold producer with operations on four continents, AngloGold Ashanti considers compliance with regulations such as Sarbanes-Oxley to be a corporate priority.
In addition to satisfying its compliance needs with the AXS-One solution, AngloGold Ashanti Australia, expects to benefit from enhancements to company-wide business processes as well as reduce the risks and costs associated with managing and archiving corporate records such as e-mail and SAP data.
After a review of internal processes, AngloGold Ashanti Australia concluded that it needed to significantly improve its capability for content capture, storage and retrieval. A key requirement was to implement a strategic platform-based solution that could manage all content types, rather than select separate point solutions. Specifically, the company needed a single repository with the scale and functionality to archive all corporate records including e-mail, SAP documents and data and office documents; manage archived documents via predefined retention criteria; override retention criteria where required for specific purposes; and efficiently search and retrieve stored data.
"After reviewing our IT systems we quickly recognized that a platform approach to managing our corporate records was essential in order to accommodate our new policies and procedures associated with Sarbanes-Oxley," said Bill Cowan, Chief Financial Officer of AngloGold Ashanti Australia. "Since e-mail is now our primary method of business communication we needed a system that would compliantly capture, store and manage all transactional and other e-mail content. The product we selected had to demonstrate an ROI as well as address specific compliance requirements. By implementing the AXS-One solution we were able to satisfy both our operational and compliance needs."
AngloGold Ashanti Australia's dynamic and diverse operational requirements required a comprehensive platform solution capable of addressing current and future operational and compliance requirements. Their initial implementation of the AXS-One Compliance Platform included AXS-Link for MS Exchange, giving them operational and compliance archiving capability for digital records including e-mail, Microsoft Office documents and .pst files, and AXS-One Retention Manager to apply and manage retention periods for messages and documents in compliance with regulations including the Australian Privacy Act. AXS-Link for SAP, a SAP-certified solution providing archiving and imaging for SAP documents and data, will be implemented in a second phase which is about to commence.
"Selection of the AXS-One Compliance Platform by AngloGold Ashanti Australia attests to its growing popularity around the world," said Bill Lyons, CEO of AXS-One. "As corporate digital content continues to expand in quantity and type, meeting the growing challenges of compliance, corporate governance, legal discovery and privacy will by necessity become embedded in business processes. In many ways AngloGold Ashanti Australia is ahead of the curve in tackling these problems, and we're privileged to be given the opportunity to work with them."
