Installations of Diebold's advanced-function ATM to be complete by year-end
London - A French bank is taking its self-service banking offerings to the next level by installing Diebold's Opteva® automated teller machines (ATMs).
Banque Populaire Toulouse Pyrénées (BPTP) has chosen Diebold's newest ATMs for installation in several of its branches. The bank installed its first-ever Diebold ATMs in July.
BPTP's purchase of Diebold's Opteva ATMs supports the bank's strategy to promote its self-service banking services. The financial institution has offered its customers self-service options for more than 20 years, and is gearing up to provide even more options in the future. The new ATMs will be installed in conjunction with the bank's migration to EMV specifications, a project jointly managed by Diebold, BPTP and the bank's computer centre.
Diebold's Opteva advanced-function, through-the-wall, walk-up ATM will be the centerpiece of the bank's new self-service solutions. The ATM offers the most advanced functionality of Diebold's new Opteva line, providing options for deposit automation, bulk note acceptance, bill pay and much more. Julien Perera, IT manager for BPTP, said the new Diebold ATMs will enable the bank's customers to conduct transactions that were traditionally limited to the teller.
"We are completely satisfied with Opteva and our new EMV application," Perera said. "Diebold's development teams have efficiently put into place the graphic and visual modifications necessary to the interoperability of our network, and they have completed the project within all of the set deadlines."
The Opteva family of ATMs, which now includes seven units, was launched in Europe in 2003 in Paris. To date, more than 20,000 Opteva ATMs have been purchased by some of the world's leading financial institutions. The Opteva family includes most every possible self-service application for the ATM, and was designed for high performance, maximum security, superior reliability and serviceability. The open design is powered by Agilis®, Diebold's high- erformance software, which is capable of interfacing with multiple-vendor products, reducing the need for back-end support. BPTP's Opteva units will include options such as cheque and cash depositing and Diebold's bi-colour receipt printer, the first such printer to hit the market.
Henrik Funch, division vice president for Diebold Europe-Middle East-Africa (EMEA), said Diebold is proud to bring its products to BPTP.
"We are proud to deliver the first Diebold Opteva ATMs to Banque Populaire," Funch said. "We believe our self-service solutions will bring a new level of convenience, reliability and security to the bank's customers."
BPTP will install the Opteva units in several of its branches. The installations are scheduled to be completed by the end of 2004.
