Now 600 Bankers at Bear Stearns Are Equipped with Thomson ONE, the Industry Standard Desktop Investment Banking Solution
NEW YORK, NY, December 20, 2004 -- Thomson Financial, an operating unit of The Thomson Corporation (NYSE: TOC; TSX: TOC) and leading provider of information and technology solutions to the worldwide financial community, today announced it has signed a contract with Bear Stearns (NYSE: BSC), a leading investment banking and securities trading and brokerage firm, to extend its Thomson ONE footprint to an additional 350 investment bankers in the U.S.
This expanded rollout follows an initial deployment of 250 desktops in June 2003, and brings the total number of analysts, associates and bankers utilizing a Thomson Financial desktop solution at Bear Stearns to 600. All users share a common desktop framework and content mix combined with a configured desktop that provides workflow tools and functionality that meet the needs of both junior and senior bankers. When configured for investment banking, Thomson ONE covers the needs of the entire investment banking workflow from idea generation and prospecting, comps analysis and valuation through detailed due-diligence and client presentation.
"Our junior bankers have relied on several different products in the past to meet their workflow needs," said Steven Medley, vice president and co-manager of the Business Information Group at Bear Stearns. "Thomson Financial’s Investment Banking desktop provides a fully integrated solution built on Thomson Financial’s "must have" content which clearly enables our bankers to work more efficiently."
"This deployment is extremely significant as it demonstrates the ability of Thomson ONE to meet the workflow needs of the entire investment banking enterprise," said Debra Walton, global managing director of Thomson Financial’s Investment Banking and Research Group. "It also validates the tremendous acceptance of Thomson ONE by the Bear Stearns bankers who have been using the product now for more than a year."
Thomson ONE is the leading desktop for investment banking, offering a flexible framework that allows clients to combine Thomson and third-party resources with their own data and applications into a proprietary workflow solution that makes bankers more productive at generating business. Thomson First Call and I/B/E/S® Estimates, Thomson Worldscope Fundamentals, Thomson Datastream historical time series content, SDC Deals, and ShareWatch Ownership content integrates with third-parties IDC and Compustat and clients’ own data into a desktop that empowers bankers to generate pitches and win deals.
