BT’S ITS.NETRIX MULTIMEDIA DESKTOP DEVICE AWARDED BEST TURRET BY WATERS MAGAZINE

London, 13 December, 2004 - BT’s consulting and systems integration business today announced that its recently launched ITS.Netrix multimedia desktop device received the 2004 Waters Award for Best Turret. Using ITS.Netrix, traders can manage all communications channels including voice, video, instant messaging, email and web browsing from a single device, improving service for customers however they choose to communicate. It was awarded the honour by the judges because of its "cutting-edge status" and "sleek, silver" design.

The Waters Awards, sponsored by Waters magazine, a financial services publication, celebrates the best financial technology providers in 21 categories. The judging panel consisted of Waters editors and editorial staff from sister publications, including Dealing with Technology and Inside Market Data.

The Waters Awards panel said: "With praise from both IT and trader communities for ITS.Netrix, BT wins best turret, hands down. It is as future-proof as technology gets. BT has outpaced the competition and we at Waters can not deny that ITS.Netrix is impressive."

ITS.Netrix was chosen from a field of four technology providers-including IPC and Etrali-and was commended by the judges for giving traders a technology platform that meets all their communication needs, now and in the future. Features highlighted by Waters include:

· Connectivity to Internet Protocol (IP) or traditional voice networks, giving full flexibility to customers as to when and where they choose to deploy Voice over IP;

· Presence management through Session Initiation Protocol (SIP), for interaction with corporate IP telephony, the internet and instant messaging;

· Hi-fi quality audio, to ensure clear sound and eliminate background noise;
· In-built security provided by the Linux operating system, eliminating all vulnerable protocols.

Rod MacDonald, managing director, financial services, BT Consulting & Systems Integration, said: "This prestigious award recognises the value of ITS.Netrix to the trading community, and reflects BT’s continued efforts to ensure that our offerings make a difference in today’s fast-paced and competitive trading environment. Already we have sold over 2,300 positions, and have a pipeline for a further 15,000 around the globe."
